Placing Candidates on Contracts are stable and you make more money. Now it takes a little longer to build and it is highly competitive. So yes it's hard work. The contract space is where the best recruiters play the game!
You have don't have to be a great recruiter if you want to make the big bucks and have nurses on contract assignments, you just have to be personable and then you have to be extremely professional and relentless. Let your candidate know that you are going to find them the best job with the best pay.
Nurses on contract really depend on their recruiter to assist them during the on boarding. The Agency Account Manager will do all the heavy lifting, but your job is to build trust initially, confidence and a strong relationship with your nurse - The Agency will do everything else.
Remind them that TRAVEL CONTRACT submissions will receive FIVE STAR LEVEL SERVICE form the Agency. Your qualified submission will hear from a Contracts Account Manager within 30 minutes of your submission and the Agency will deliver excellent customer service while working relentlessly to make a placement of your candidate.
Yes, the Agency can offer a lot of value to a nurse, but it is starts with the Nurse & Recruiter relationship. A nurse needs full trust with the recruiter and reassure them that the Agency will handle all of their needs while on assignment. Contract placements are about quality relationships for the long haul.
By slowing down and building this relationship of trust and staying in communication with your candidate, you will reap the financial benefit of it all year. That's our common goal! Keep the candidate happy and working.
Last thing to remember: Once you and your candidate are comfortable working together the next thing is to move fast! This is extremely competitive because the money is so good! Tell them that!
The contract opportunities with the Agencies will be a mixture of exclusive, semi-exclusive and vendor managed. Whatever the opportunity you & the nurse have to be ready and move fast.
From the minute your candidate says they are ready - move quickly! These positions get filled fast.
**IMPORTANT** Our recommendation is to have your candidate agree to be placed for 5 different positions increasing their chance of placement.
The Agency credentialing team is ready and will move extremely fast as well - we are as fast as you and your candidate!
Upon entering your candidate into your dashboard you will want to collect:
- Updated resume with no gaps in employment. If gaps are present, must be presented in resume. Example; 9/2017-11/2017, took time off between assignments, ill parent.
- BLS/ACLS Certifications, as applicable for position ER, ICU, PICU etc;- Please do your best to collect these for contract submissions, if not the Agency will help obtain
- License or Certification Information – the Agency will do the actual verifying
- (3-5) references, one must be supervisory and the others can be from co-workers or colleagues - the Agency will verify the information you collect
The above is basic requirements. However, some clients will require the test and additional information. The Agency will handle that piece with your candidates.
Please inform your candidates, it is imperative the Agency is able to reach their references within 24 hours of the submission. This is one of the biggest delays - let them know. It is crucial.
You are a recruiter partner, but you are the healthcare professional's trusted adviser and agent. We have plenty of recruiters who maintain 20 to 60 nurses on contract every month and you can do it too.
Final Thoughts: Have patience building the relationship and have urgency when submitting! Travelers and Contract Employees are in demand. This will take a little bit of time to get going, but persistence is key. If you are looking for overnight success - you won't ever find it.
Use all the tools you have and know. Don't try to pressure the candidate, but focus on trust. Offer: contract and travel assignments. Listen to what they want and offer it. It's not difficult, but it will take some time to get it ramped up.
Stick with it and you will see the results!
Once the relationship is in place - MOVE FAST
